Get on Your Boots

U2 got a new album called “No Line On The Horizon” out yesterday, “Get On Your Boots” is the name of the first single. You can preview the songs on the right sidebar.

Not the best picture, but it was the one that fit the best. It's a small puppy who might even sleep in his owner's boot.


U2 sacó su nuevo disco ayer “No Line On The Horizon” (Sin Línea en el Horizonte) , “Get On Your Boots” (Ponte tus Botas) es el nombre del primer sencillo. Pueden escuchar parte de las canciones en la barra del lado derecho.

No es la mejor foto, pero es la que mejor queda. Es un pequeño cachorro que pudiera dormir en la bota de su dueño.

Could the Beatles had been inspired by a road like this one? Maybe not, this only leads to the parking lot in the background... but still, this one is long and winding...

¿Se habrán inspirado los Beatles con un camino como este? Tal vez no, este sólo lleva al estacionamiento en el fondo... pero aún así, este es largo y tortuoso...

Sorry to say that there won't be a show tonight on trampoline, as Lennon announced on The Beatles song.

A cultural segment here, as well as most Mexicans, Regios (that's the name for which the people of Monterrey is widely known) are Catholic and specially devout to Our Lady of Guadalupe, also known as La Guadalupana or La Morenita. You can find people wearing a necklace with her image, having a stamp in their wallets/purses and lighting candles asking for Her blessings.

I took these photos at an expo by colorful local artist Romelia Elizondo Quiroga (sorry, couldn't find any links to her work) where  the revenue will go  to the benefit of the Red Cross.

Lamento decirles que esta noche no habrá un show en trampolín, como anunció Lennon en la canción de Los Beatles.

Un reporte cultural, al igual que la mayoría  de los Mexicanos, los Regios (que es como se conoce a la gente de Monterrey) son Católicos y especialmente devotos a la Virgen de Guadalupe, también conocida como La Guadalupana o La Morenita. Pueden encontrar gente con su imagen en una cadena, con una estampita en la cartera/bolsa o poniendo veladoras pidiendo por Sus bendiciones.

Estas fotos las tomé en una exposición por la artista Romelia Elizondo Quiroga (lo siento, no encontré vínculos para más pinturas) donde los ingresos irán a beneficio de la Cruz Roja.

Pueden ver 3 pinturas más de la Virgen en la segunda foto; pueden ver otra obra sobre la Virgen en el blog de Kate en Mazatlán. Todas están basadas en el original que se está en la Basílica de Guadalupe en la Ciudad de México.

“I want to be Bob Dylan...”

Or so the Counting Crows sing in Mr. Jones. 

Bob Dylan gave a concert here last Friday. In all honesty I like Mr. Jones more than any of Dylan's songs but, although not a big fan, I know that he's one of music greatest legends. 

The reviews in newspapers and radio stations say that it was a great show, altough he didn't interact much with the audience. 

The building in the photo is the Arena Monterrey, which is where the event was held.

O al menos así dicen los Counting Crows en Mr. Jones.

Bob Dylan dió un concierto aquí el viernes pasado. Honestamente me gusta más Mr. Jones que cualquiera de las canciones de Dylan aunque sé que es una de las leyendas de la música.

En el radio y en los periódicos dicen que estuvo muy bueno el concierto aunque no interactuó mucho con el público.

El edificio en la foto es la Arena Monterrey, que es donde fué el evento.
