Just One More - Rubber Ducky Race - Series 2.3

Here is the last post about this year's Rubber Ducky Race. This is a closeup from part of the duckies patienty floating in the river,  it was just to good to let it pass.

Este es la última foto de la Carrera del Patito de Hule de este año. Es un acercamiento de parte de los patitos flotando pacientemente en el río, era demasiado bueno para dejarlo pasar.

Entertainers - Rubber Ducky Race - Series 2.2

To make the time more enjoyable there were some of the TV's children entertainers, including a long time personality known as “Chabelo” who is raising his hand here. Its supposed to be a very grown kid that even has a kid voice that uses every time that he's on stage.

The official mascot of the race was also in attendance: Tito the Duck.

Para hacer el tiempo más ameno hubo algunas de las personalidades de la TV infantil, incluyendo al famoso “Chabelo” que está levantando la mano. Se supone que es un niño muy crecido que hasta usa voz de niño cada vez que está en escena.

La mascota oficial de la carrera también estuvo presente: el Pato Tito.

A Souvenir - Rubber Ducky Race - Series 2.1

Today starta another short series about the Rubber Ducky Race (check past posts related).

Here is one of the most unique souvenirs sold at the event: a baseball cap with a  rubber ducky face on it, including the sunglasses!

Looked pretty cool with all those other duckies nearby.


Hoy empieza otra serie corta sobre la Carrera del Patito de Hule (puedes ver los anteriores aquí).

Aquí está uno de los recuerdos más originales vendidos en el evento: una gorra de beisbol con una cara del patito de hule, ¡incluso con los lentes de sol!

Se veía bien con todos los otros patitos cerca.

Having some Fun - Rubber Ducky Race - Series 1.5

Aside from making waves, the Jet Ski was used to have some fun with the people at the event. Here he's refreshing the crowd. Look at the faces of the kids as they were took by surprise.

A few went home  with a prize, some soaking wet and but almost everyone with a smile.

Aparte de usar la Moto de Agua para hacer olas, también se usó para divertir a los asistentes. Aquí están refrescando a la gente. Vean las caras de los niños cuando los estaban sorprendiendo.

Pocos regresaron a  casa con un premio, algunos empapados y pero casi todos con una sonrisa.

Making some Waves - Rubber Ducky Race - Series 1.4

This is a follow-up from the 2008 Rubber Ducky Race, you can check here the previous posts.

Since this man-made river has no current, there had to make something to move the duckies to the finish line.

This is how the waves were made. A guy in a Jet Ski passed over and over to create the necessary push for the  duckies to arrive to their destination... it took around 45 minutes, since there were so many of them and they were floating in the widest part of the river.

In the background you can see the Mitras Hill (Cerro de las Mitras) which is one of the main mountains surrounding the City.

Esta es la continuación de la Carrera del Patito de Hule 2008, pueden ver los previos aquí.

Al ser este un río artificial no tiene corriente, por lo que se tenía que hacer algo para hacer llegar a los patitos a la meta.

Así fue como se hicieron las olas. Una persona en una Moto Acuática pasó una y otra vez para crear el impulso necesario para que los patitos llegaran a su destino... tardaron casi 45 minutos, al ser tantos patitos y estar en la parte más ancha del río.

Al fondo de la foto pueden ver el Cerro de las Mitras que es una de las principales montañas que rodean la Ciudad.

Moving them Closer - Rubber Ducky Race - Series 1.3

Each ducky had a number on it, for each “adoption” a ticket was handed with one of those numbers and there were prizes for the first 10 duckies to arrive to the goal.

How did the rubber duckies managed to swam??  For that purpose some waves had to be created so they move closer (and faster) and a winner could be declared in under 1 hour.

Cada patito tenía un número, por cada “adopción” se entregaba un certificado con uno de esos números y hubo premios para los primeros 10 patitos en llegar a la meta.

¿¿Cómo nadaron los patitos?? Para lograrlo se tuvieron que crear algunas olas para que se acercaran (y apresuraran) y se conociera al ganador en menos de 1 hora.

Can you count them? - Rubber Ducky Race - Series 1.2

Here are the duckies in the river... the water could not be seen when they were close together after being dropped.

How many do you see here?? This weren't all of the duckies on the race, but maybe most of them.

Overall there were 30,000 rubber duckies, each “adopted” for around 5 US Dollars that went to this charity (sorry, only in Spanish).

Aquí están los patitos en el río... el agua no se podía ver cuando acababan de soltarlos y estaban muy juntos.

¿¿Cuántos ven?? Estos no eran todos los patitos en la carrera, pero tal vez la mayoría.

En total hubo 30,000 patitos de hule, cada uno “adoptado” por 50 pesos que fueron donados al Instituto Nuevo Amanecer.

Start of the Rubber Ducky Race - Series 1.1

Two months ago the Rubber Ducky Charity Race was held at Paseo Santa Lucía. Here are some photos of the buildup to the race.

I wasn't able to upload anything for this event before because of some technical difficulties but finally here they are!! Hope you like them.

This one is when the rubber duckies were dropped into the river to start the race. On the next few days there will be more coming.



Hace dos meses se realizó la Carrera del Patito de Hule a Beneficiencia en el Paseo Santa Lucía. Aquí hay algunas fotos de la promoción de la carrera.

No había podido subir nada del evento por algunos problemas técnicos pero ¡¡finalmente aquí están!! Espero les gusten.

Esta es cuando los patitos de hule fueron soltados al río para iniciar la carrera. En los siguientes días pondré más de la carrera.
